Random Server Events - Discussion

I'm sure most of use will agree that random server events would be awesome. The question is, how awesome can they be? Very awesome. How difficult is it for Rocket to incorporate such a system? I don't know. So, I wanted to throw out a number of scenarios that will get some proverbial balls rolling, but first, I'd like to lead off with this amazing video, which is slightly hilarious:

Events could be as simple as Jets flying over head, helicopters flying over-head (giving the feeling of a larger conflict - a global conflict, because the war against zombies has started), or could be something more complex. Here's my list of ideas:

1.) Jet/Helicopter Crash - in real-time.

1a.) Jet/Helicopter Fly-overs

2.) Military Convoy - traveling from NE to SW, into and out of the map.

3.) Bandaging an incapacitated civilian

4.) Special Zombie - all-black/devoid-of-light, with special loot, has more health, and faster running.

5.) Quarantine Zone - Military personnel defending a small area

6.)Nuke - offmap/onmap:

I like the idea of the military convoy that could spawn and travel across the map. Loaded with "goodies" but it couldn't be that often. Maybe once in a 24hr period. That way the bandits can setup a place to slaughter the convoy and the survivors :D

The route would have to be completely randomized.

Isn't there already some random scripted events? I seem to remember seeing two doctors suicide jump off the roof of the Cherno hospital?

to expand on the fly-overs idea, it could perhaps be possible for people to find some very rare strela AA and take down one of the helicopters/jets flying over for even better loot.

Perhaps make it so that the AA is only obtainable from a helicopter crash site, and have the coordinates and time for the jet or helicopter flyover broadcast though the radio (something like this is already ingame, but at the moment it tells the grid coordinates of deer stands).

Possibilities are endless etc etc :)

Interesting... however, why not stick to things like more subtle changes- such as the occasional drastic increase in zombie agressiveness, or rare periods where there are very few zombie spawns, just to drive a wave of looting (and, of course, conflicts as everyone rushes to take advantage of the easier-to-access loot). Maybe gas shortages that make it so that gas stations no longer supply gas for a period, so that players are forced to ration it.

If you want to get really complex, make it so that a few players get a normal disease that spreads by contact. Being close to them, or looting their corpses, infects you. It might merely increase hunger and decrease blood a bit, or it may be more serious. Dealing with the disease, and shooting likely carriers before they can get close to you, could be very interesting.
