Quick start guide for new spawns

Recommended Posts

So i'm pretty new, only started about a week ago, but in this week i've learned some things that might be able to help new people trying to get out of what might seem like an infinite loop of die/respawn/die.

Step 1: Respawn until you get spawned at Cherno or Elektro, or nearby. You can use this map to determine if you're nearby: http://dayzdb.com/map

Step 2: In Cherno, sprint through town straight to the northernmost hospital. If there's not many people around, you can check any loot spawns along the way, but the best way to be safe is simply to book it north asap.

At the northernmost hospital, get at least 2 morphine, some bandages, painkillers, antibiotics, and if you plan to play with other players pick up at least 1 blood bag and epi pen. Next head to the apartments nearby.

Your main aim here is to get at least 2 cans of food and drink to last you a while. Loot any tools/backpack you find as well, and if you can fit it into your pack, get some lee enfield/makarov ammo incase you find one of those weapons later on. If you get a weapon great, if not, you will find one later - a weapon isn't essential for this early point in the game if you're being careful and sneaky.

In Elektro, sprint through the town to the east. All very close to eachother as you can see on the map linked earlier are a hospital, a school house and a supermarket.

If the town has lots of players, you want to avoid the schoolhouse because it's so big and looting it will take a long time.

Get 2+ morphine and whatever other med supplies you might need from the hospital then head to the supermarket. Get as much food/drink as possible and of course loot any weapon, backpack or tools you find, then get out of there asap and head north into the wilderness.

If you die while doing any of this, just respawn and try again. It takes 5-10 minutes tops so you don't lose much. I play on servers with at least 20+ players always and i've only died while doing these runs to another player once (I died 2 other times just to my own stupidity due to zombies).

Also, if you find a weapon, shoot anyone you see first. At this early stage of the game everyone you see could have potentially useful loot for you, and if you don't kill other players before they kill you, you'll just get pked yourself.

If you get zombies on you either run through buildings to lose them or just kill them if you found a weapon. It's not worth it to meticulously sneak around town on a new character, you have nothing to lose and it takes way too long.

I firmly believe the main reason new people have so much trouble is because they hang around the main towns for far too long. Once you get the bare essentials theres no reason to stick around, other places have loot just as good and they are 10x safer.
