hyperunknown 3 Posted October 29 Hello there! All Livonia servers are currently down, and I'm wondering where I could've read about them going down beforehand, or now afterwards, as I can't seem to find any information. Nothing on TW/X at either DayZ or Bohemia, and can't find anything on these forums, etc. I hope it's not something like "It's just Experimental", and that you're not giving updates on when servers are being taken down and such? Experimental is my only DayZ play, I don't play on community/private or "normal" DayZ at all, so it would be nice to have some kind of info about when something is going down and what the timeframe might be for when it's coming up again. First of all, I don't usually use the experimental branch... I've only used it on some very exceptional occasions... but from what I understand (but I could be wrong), the experimental branches are opened when a new patch is coming to use players as "testers". When it is adopted in the "stable" branch, generally also a fixed and improved version, the "old version" and the experimental servers are closed. But I repeat that it is my belief not verified in reality because I have been interested in the experimental branches very few times and, as soon as the "stable" version arrived, I always returned to my old usual servers, completely forgetting about the "experimental" version. If anyone has a different version, I would be curious to know it too... Even if I read that, somehow, you could still play the old versions of the game, and I found some servers that ran (and were even populated), the old "experimental" versions of the game. How it is possible to enter them I don't know. I also asked in this forum, but no one has answered me yet. ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯

I've been playing experimental for years without interruption except for the usual server restarts, and the occasional couple of hours downtime here and there, but never like this for like 4 days straight, which is why I'm asking.

And how do you get a client with the version of DayZ you want, since Steam practically forces you to update to the latest version? 🤔

It's not rocket-science ><

It's not rocket-science >< That is, do the experimental servers never close? Do they stay open with the latest experimental version until the next experimental version? And what does the B.I. keep those servers active for, since they are no longer needed? In all these years of DayZ and searching for the least populated servers with Battlemetrics, I had never found any (experimental servers) after the release of the stable version... this time, that I found some, I thought it was an anomaly, also considering the many problems with several servers that lasted for several days... And what is the point of continuing to play an imprecise and defective version when there is an "improved" one (even if it always has other defects, unfortunately... with DayZ it's a never-ending story)?!? Because you will always have only the latest experimental version tested, not the one you prefer, I guess... I mean, you can't choose to play the experimental version 1.07... or 0.70 (if one existed)... 😐

"And what does the B.I. keep those servers active for, since they are no longer needed?" -- what do you mean no longer needed? It's the Experimental servers where they try out the things before they merge to the normal ones. Hence the name 'Experimental'. "In all these years of DayZ and searching for the least populated servers with Battlemetrics, I had never found any (experimental servers) after the release of the stable version" -- search the server numbers there and you'll find them. "And what is the point of continuing to play an imprecise and defective version when there is an "improved" one" -- What is the point of complaining about someones playstyle, maybe it's what I like. It's not a defective server-type, it's Experimental as explained above. Can't believe I have to explain all this to someone who's been here for 4 years ><
