How does the loot respawns work?

I've been told..

Kill zombies and you'll find better loot.

Extreme/Veteran servers have less loot. (regs have more)

but how exactly does it work?

not sure how true that is...

All the spawn places on the maps spawn loot i just think its down to if your lucky and nobody else has been there before you...

sometimes you can check 5 buildings and find nothing other times you can check 5 and not have enough room to carry it all!

Spawned outside of electra, run through all the buildings I could find using the DayZ DB Map system, and still found no food/drink before I died from thirst or starvation, not sure which it was.

I'm not really one to complain though, like the previous poster said sometimes you end up with more than you can carry, just sucks when you find absolutely nothing and your trying to meet up with some mates.

That isn't true, loot spawns work on probability, with a different percentage chance of different things spawning. Sometimes you will find loads of loot, sometimes you will find nothing but tin cans.

You also are reliant on being the first player to check the loot piles, because a person could have come through earlier and taken all of the good loot leaving you all of the empty tin cans. Apparently the items will respawn after a certain amount of time, but I do not know how long that is.

If you are struggling to find loot, head inland or play on a lower population server. Luck also plays a big part in it though, I must say that I have never died from starving or dehydration.
