Alex067 4 Posted July 7, 2012 1) If the user wants to logout, have the physical character body still in the server for 10 seconds before logging/exiting out. A message appears once desired to leave stating the timer until the physical copy of your character is disconnected.2) If the user alt f4 out, have the physical character still ingame until the disconnection is completely (10 second count down).I don't see why this can't be implemented to solve the ongoing DC issues. NobodieCro 11 Posted July 7, 2012 What if you lose connection in Chernerus ? or in a firefight ?
LifeHackz (DayZ) 17 Posted July 7, 2012 What if you lose connection in Chernerus ? or in a firefight ?Well, that would be unlucky, although it would solve the whole DC'ing problem, which is alot worse than the occasional lost connection in a firefight, if you do lose connection in one, you kind of deserve to be shot or somthing. thisisbleep 32 Posted July 7, 2012 This has been suggested numerous times already. Rocket did try to implement this style of logout but apparently there were bugs and it was pulled straight away or not put in a public build.
brisos 1 Posted July 7, 2012 I'd rather miss out on 10 kills & miss out on all the best gear in the game 50 times because of DCs than die once due to a server fart disconnecting me at the wrong time. If a guy DCs on you because you're about to kill him, you lose nothing. It's frustrating, yes, but you lose nothing. While the DC issue is a big one that needs some sort of fix I don't like the idea of punishing the innocent even if the guilty are punished 100 times more. mines_skyline 4 Posted July 7, 2012 bro, it was already implemented, but it didnt work properly. you cud disconnect and reconnect and ur body wud still be there. so u cud essentially loot your own body.
BabylonDK 7 Posted July 7, 2012 What if you lose connection in Chernerus ? or in a firefight ?Thats the thing about humans.. Must of us use bugs or expliot to avoid getting killed by a better player.. I guess, you would have to live with it or stop playing. 80% of all players i shot at yesterday dc'e or ALT+F4 after taking the first shot.. So i must admit.. I would much more getting kill because my router decides to restart than wasting time and ammo on dudes whom can DC'e to avoid getting kill.. And maybe 10 sec, it too little.. Make it 20.. So players would HAVE TO PLAN where to logout. As a option DayZ team should make a countdown so you can watch our charater being safe. Ex.You are going to bed, and are inside Elektro. You click ESC, and "Exit game".. You get a dialog up counten down from 20 sec, and a buttom saying "Close now".. If you push ESC one more time you will cancel the countdown allowing you to dodge inbound attacks, and you can sit back and match your man logging off safely or take the chance and log off without seeing the countdown (The charater will remain in the game for 20 sec)

But maybe it can be implented in the upcomming Arma game with the quite well programmed engine.. But yeah.. You are right.. There are limitations to every mod, and games also. But atleast we can up this will be a feature in the future game / version :)

If I was shooting at you with a crappy gun, and you missed me and i found out you could one-shot me, and i got scared and run around a building and fast logged out.. Then 10 seconds is not good odds for you to get near me and take another shot at me.. 20 secounds will increase the chance for getting punished for using exploits in the game.. Really. BabylonDK 7 Posted July 7, 2012 Technical its a mod, but yeah you do have right at that point.. I read something about Arma2 sales went up 500% after release of the DayZ, so maybe they can work together with the staff at DayZ to improve engine-wise functions, like the dialog.. (I hope) :)

Chimonanthus 9 Posted July 7, 2012 Lol, I agree with all you guys and I suggest we level up a bit the bid. How about 30 seconds during which your character stays there and you could not log in any server until your character disapears in the original server?
