Helicopter repair and ownership

Me and my friends are veterans at the dayz mod and have acquired almost everything could possible want in terms of equipment and weapons. Soon we're going to try to find and repair a vehicle (preferably a helicopter).

What experiences have you guys had with helicopters and other vehicles? Are they extremely difficult to get running and under control?

Please share some of your experiences.

I know how to operate and land one with its anti-torque rotor shot out, but that's about it.

They're not back yet on my server, ymmv.

I wasn't even aware that the helicopters (or all vehicles?) were removed.

helis are removed due to desync probs atm.

vehicles are fun to drive, but can be hard to repair sometimes and ontop of that they increase your paranoia extremely.

According to NUMEROUS reports, the desync problems have been fixed at least since 1.7.1.5 if not before. Not sure why they won't put them back in or even comment on it, despite the fact that it keeps popping up in the forum.
