Fun Fact About Stary and Novy

Recommended Posts

"Stary" and "Novy" just mean "old" and "new" respectively. So the towns are really named "Old Sobor" and "New Sobor."

Just an interesting tidbit I think people would be interested in.

I read somewhere that "Sobor" means church. So New/Old Church. Though I am not sure, but it makes sense, there are churches in both.

Sobor does mean a certain type of church, though it also literally means "meeting or assembly". Though I have never heard it used in that way, I assume that the word "Sobranye" is the more modern version.

Most of the city names in arma mean something, many of them rather random. I remember seeing Empty, Old, Valley, Field, Shovel, Bitter, Swamp, Stony, Mosquito and Hope.
