Hacked weapons and Keeping them

After searching the fourms, I've found threads saying you can keep these weapons and not spawn them, or you can keep them if there's an Icon of the weapon in the gear menu...

Could someone tell me exactly what the policy on this is? I got spawned a AS50 into my inv today with 8 clips, haven't used it yet, but wondering if I can?

Will I get banned if I keep them?

using it makes no difference. Any consequence comes from having the gun on your person, back pack or inventory. Once it's there, you're done.

However, database bans only affect weapons that should not be in the mod.

Weapons that have been spawned but are legit DayZ weapons are, as far as I know, indifferentiable from the non-spawned legit copies of the weaponn.

So you should be safe to use the AS50 as it's a DayZ weapon.

If I'm wrong, you're already going to get banned for having it, using it makes no difference.

As far as I know, you should get rid of any hacked items. Put them on a zombie and hide his body. I recently acquired an AS50 TWS off a sniper above elektro and was advised to do just this by Vipeax. This is just DayZ/Alpha for you :D

Vipeax advised you what to do, but didn't he also say that you wouldn't be banned for having the weapon? Obviously the "right" thing to do is what he advised, but people running around on the forums acting like the DayZ police force, spouting unofficial law, are annoying to me... (I'm not saying this is you, btw)

A hacker turned my M1014 into an AS50 TWS. I carried it until it got turned into a Makarov, and I did not get banned. I simply went back to my legit AS50.
