Name_Jeff339 0 Posted April 25 Dear DayZ Development Team, I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to share some feedback regarding an aspect of gameplay that I believe could benefit from improvement: driving mechanics. While the addition of vehicles has undoubtedly enriched the DayZ experience, there have been consistent reports of buggy behavior and frustrations associated with driving. Addressing these issues could significantly enhance the overall gameplay experience for all players. Here are some key areas where I believe improvements could be made: Vehicle Handling and Stability: Implement adjustments to improve the handling and stability of vehicles, particularly at higher speeds and over rough terrain. This could involve refining physics calculations and collision detection to provide a smoother driving experience. Reducing Desync and Lag: Address desynchronization and network lag issues that often result in erratic vehicle behavior, such as teleportation, rubber-banding, and collisions with invisible obstacles. Improving server-client communication and optimizing network performance could help mitigate these issues. Collision Detection and Interaction: Enhance the accuracy and consistency of collision detection to prevent vehicles from getting stuck on terrain features or experiencing sudden, unexpected collisions. This could involve refining the physics engine and collision algorithms to better simulate real-world interactions. Vehicle Persistence and Respawning: Ensure that vehicles persist reliably across server restarts and respawns in consistent locations to prevent instances of vehicles disappearing or spawning in inaccessible areas. Implementing robust persistence mechanics for vehicles could help alleviate frustration and improve the reliability of transportation options. User Interface and Controls: Streamline the user interface and controls for operating vehicles, making it easier for players to understand and interact with vehicle systems effectively. Providing intuitive controls and informative feedback can enhance the accessibility and enjoyment of driving in DayZ. By addressing these issues and refining the driving mechanics in DayZ, you would not only improve the quality of life for players but also enhance immersion and realism within the game world. Vehicles are a significant aspect of gameplay in DayZ, and ensuring their functionality and reliability is crucial to the overall experience.
nemorus 259 Posted April 25 I've heard that vehicles and the world use two different engines. If so, then we have a miracle on our hands - because it actually works to some degree. It may be quite hard to "address" problems with driving in such environment. Game needs a new engine - the one that is consistent, not jury-rigged. 1
