brian.currie@hotmail.com 10 Posted July 6, 2012 Before you ask, yes i am a bandit. I am currently using the AS50 with the M1911, and was thinking that it may be a good idea to carry a second primary weapon. Some weapons that I could just pick up from camp are: MP5SD, FN FAL, bunch of AKs, DMR, etc. Would it be useful to carry the AS50 and the DMR (one for day, one for night with nvgs), or would it be better to have a silent weapon? I know it all depends on personal taste, but just looking for some suggestions. Thanks in advance :D
wo0kie (DayZ) 16 Posted July 6, 2012 I roll with a DMR and L85A2 AWS. Unstoppable combination in my opinion.
Casualblue 2 Posted July 6, 2012 always the m4sd.always.Usually take a m24 or svd
Merciless 59 Posted July 7, 2012 A silenced weapon. Thus bring a hatchet.
euryale 72 Posted July 7, 2012 For a bandit, one heavy sniper for the 1-hit 1-kill (AS50, M107, SVD) 2nd primary would be a weapon with lots of ammos. I'd take a M4 or a L85 & charge them with SD roundssecondary weapon I use a 1911. Easy to find ammos, deadly enough to deal easily with the aggoed zeds, not much noise
thebrokendoctor 0 Posted July 7, 2012 Depending on who is on primary sniper and who is counter-sniper, I'll roll with either a silenced weapon as my second primary or a L85.
Hippy 3 Posted July 7, 2012 silenced weapon, bizon or an m4 sd.
Wo3dy 111 Posted July 7, 2012 i roll AS50 with a L85 and M1911 pistol, having the L85 now for 2weeks now, perfect for spotting
DevilDog (DayZ) 455 Posted July 7, 2012 Two ways you can go imo. Either a silenced weapon or thermal scopes. Depends how you want to play things.
Roguepacket 12 Posted July 7, 2012 As has been stated, a silenced weapon is always preferred - but I would never count an MP5SD or Bizon SD as a "suitable" secondary. They're too weak unless you get the drop on someone, but you aren't carrying an AS50 to get "personal" with others. I would take an AKS Kobra or M4A3 CCO instead, as the sights allow for extremely rapid target acquisition. This is especially useful in CQB for resupply runs, or when someone is approaching your position.

tom.dullnig@gmx.net 16 Posted July 7, 2012 I tend to disagree. If you are close enough to others to be in need of using a second primary weapon you need something with stoppingpower. Go for the M14 AIM. If you carry four canteens and have the tools for hunting game you shouldn't go into towns anyways, M107 ammo is plentyful on crashsites and deerstands. The L85 is outstanding at spotting for the scope, but when playing on servers that are not easymode, you will find yourself at a disadvantage in close quarters. R0adki11 0 Posted July 7, 2012 I'm currently rolling around with an AS50 and M1911. I find it's the best mix of weaponry, also within my group im normally on overwatch. so not had the need to carry a second weapon. But if I find an M4 or AK47Cobra I will take that as a good CQB weapon.
brian.currie@hotmail.com 10 Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks for all the responses, I got my hands on a M4SD and I'm liking it. It's great for those annoying Zeds that seem to come all the way from Electro to hunt me down after using my AS50. Now time to pry a L85 from someones cold dead hands. memerlord420 7 Posted July 8, 2012 I roll with a silenced m4 in my primary slot and my DMR in my ALICE bag for when I'm ready to snipe. My sidearm is an M9 I found in a deer stand ;o
Freckelz 9 Posted July 8, 2012 All the snipers in our group carry an as 50 for day time, and a dmr with night vision goggles for night time. You should have a spotter / close range support set up behind you to gaurd your back, or kill any zombies you pull while snipping. Make sure they aren't to close so that when they are doing this they don't attract to much attention to your position. It's best they use silenced for this, m4 sd with a L8 for spotting and over watch. Also carrying an m9 sd even though its a crap gun, helps because you should always have one silence on you to deal with the zombies in you path.
Herr Robert 28 Posted July 8, 2012 I'm going with the AS50 and L85A2 AWS. It's very nice to be able to spot snipers in ghillie suits with impunity. Yesterday me and one of my teammates killed three snipers at Stary thanks to the thermal optics.
Kalignoir 9 Posted July 8, 2012 Stopping power... required.Ammo/space conservation... required.High ability for target acquisition and accuracy... Definitely Required.Find a M249 SAW. 200 round belt takes 2 slots. Total of 12 slots used for a weapon that has a very high rate of fire, a sound that screams get away, and enough ammo to push back anyone trying to attack. The ammo is rather common at deer stands. Not saying this is the easiest weapon to find... but it should be a contender just because of the economy of space and firepower provided. Also you look pretty tricked out with an AS50 and an M249.'Cause c'mon thats what were really here for... right?
Hawk24 94 Posted July 8, 2012 The most inventory-friendly solution is a DMR and a M14 AimpointBoth use the same ammo(which you can get pretty much everywhere), so you don't need to dedicate inventory for another type of magazineThe M14 rips people apart in close to medium range, 2 shots are all you need with the .308 cartridgeThe DMR is perfect for medium to long range sniping because of the firing rate, you can also use it with NVGsYou're basically using the same weapon with 2 different sights(also you can fill half-empty mags by converting them to 4x 5rnd M24 and back)
spacecaps 101 Posted July 8, 2012 M1911 all the way.M4SD is useless for a sniper since any sniper rifle is loud as hell anyway.

spacecaps 101 Posted July 8, 2012 You have obviously never used the AS50.It's very quiet for people' date=' but still as loud as M107 [i']for zombies. They don't hear the actual sound sample. And AS50 aggro radius seems to be the same, if not larger, than with any other sniper rifle. And the sidearm is useful only against zeds, that's why M9SD is mostly useless for a sniper. Nice rate of fire and doesn't make much noise, even the non SD version is great. I've been trying to get my hands on another M4A1 CCO SD for days.. can't find one. And of course the point of the M9SD is to use it against zombies that come too close.
KField86 237 Posted July 11, 2012 I personally use the M4A1 CCO SD. It's not that effective at long distances, but I find I can still pack a punch with it at 200m or so, it's still relatively quiet at that distance, and it has full auto capability. Besides, if they're further than 200m, I'm going to be using the M107 anyway. The only time I pull out my back-up is if I feel like someones trying to pull off a close flank to my 6 o'clock. Then I'll switch, and try to move as slowly and quietly as possible and just wait until I see him first. In those cases I prepare for extremely close combat, and try to use a downslope for a defilade so I will generally see them a second or two before they spot me. That's all I need. :)
