Accessibility Option - Misophonia

Recommended Posts

Hello! First post here, I hope I'm in the right section. I would like to suggest an option, maybe just a checkbox, to silence some specific sounds within the gameplay. I ask for this so that the game is accessible to people with misophonia. In short, misophonia is a high intolerance to certain types of sound, here are some sources on what it is, symptoms, etc.:

It seems like a simple detail, but it really makes a difference. When my character gets thirsty, I do is kill myself at the first opportunity. So that the option does not alter other people's gameplay, sounds should only be suppressed for the player who activates the option. In other words, if I, with the option activated, drink some liquid, the sound is not played for me, but nearby players still hear it. Just like if a player next to me takes/eats an item, he hears the sound, but I don't. (I know you can just reduce the volume of sound effects in general, but this has a significant impact on gameplay by silencing other important stuff.) Suggestions of sounds that could fit the option:

All kinds of "mouth sounds". Chewing, drinking, especially the sound the character makes when he is very thirsty (this is the worst). "Stomach sounds", when the player is hungry. "Groans of pain" when the player is badly injured. Water drops and water moving sounds (not rain).

I haven't found any mod that changes this type of thing, it would also be very useful instead of an official update (which may take some time to implement).

Thank you for your attention. 🙂
