Any way to specify local listening address?

New server admin here, having a problem where my server is listening on an IP address for an interface that my router doesn't have access to. I haven't found a way to specify which address it listens on / advertises, and this is making it impossible to host a server my friends can join. Is there any way around this other than running it in a VM or something?

ETA: Nevermind, got the issue sorted out without needing this.
