usszim 35 Posted July 6, 2012 Why?There isn't much of a point to finding a bunch of scattered pairs of shotgun shells when it would be more practical and simpler if only 8 round sets spawned. This way, instead of having to carry several sets of pellets or slugs in hopes of finding a fourth to combine and save space, we can just find the full set and split it later if we have a double barrel. Looking at it through a realism standpoint, boxes of shotgun shells typically don't sell in pairs. They usually will sell a box of 5 or more, but since no shotgun in Day Z uses only 5 shells, it is easier to compress the loot table and only have 8 rounds drop at a time. So, perhaps if shotguns get more attention, 2 rounds can be removed from the drop table and be replaced by the M1014/8 round sets and therefore simplify our lives. Flame away :)
Quaby 93 Posted July 6, 2012 I like the idea, but maybe it could be more like they automatically combined so if you found two 2rnd stacks they would automatically combine into one space with 4 rounds. That way it wouldn't quadruple the amount of ammo you would find(like if you just replaced the 2rnds with 8rnds), but it would also make it take up less space
Fallout10mm 4 Posted July 6, 2012 The issue is that the game doesnt treat them as individual shells, they treat them as clips, just like crossbow bolts. Until they figure out a work around, 2shells, 1 crossbow bolt will take up the same amount of space as a 30 round assault rifle clip.

Finding only 8 round sets would make life easier for everyone and isn't any more unrealistic.

Dalton (DayZ) 5 Posted July 8, 2012 saw this the other day, I haven't had a chance to test it but I think you can combine ammo
