Maintain Items on Servers with same Difficulty

I had an idea that characters progression should be separated between servers of different difficulties. So where ever you are spawned and what loot you earn in hardcore servers is only transferable between those whilst whatever you earn in easier servers are transferable between them.

I'd like to maintain a hard core server but the prospect that people can get loot easier in easier difficulties and then head on over to a hard core server seems a bit off putting.
