Blacktiger07 0 Posted July 6, 2012 Hello,I'm playing DayZ for a long time now.Well, the game was just great when bandits had their own suits, because you know that he/she is a bandit and you try to shoot him or guy away from him/her. But since the suits are removed from the mod I just shoot everybody on sight, and I hate that. Because this game isn't about killing every other surviver. It had 2 ways to be played. On time the survivers trying to just survive and fight against zombies and the bandits which (hopefully) kill other survivers for their gear. All fine and no problems. But since the suits are removed you can't play like this anymore because you just don't know wheter a guy is a friendly or evil guy. And since you don't know it, you want to shoot him because he could shoot you instead.PLEASEPLEASEPLEASERocket!!!Bring some Bandit suits back in this mod!!! Brayt0n 0 Posted July 6, 2012 If you shoot everyone on sight, you are the part of the real problem. Also, I think there is another thread about this. Have you tried doing a search?
peliluola@gmail.com 28 Posted July 6, 2012 They are not coming back, at least not now. They were taken away for a reason and there has been a lot of brainstorming about the humanity system "behind the curtains". I hope they come up with something that works but doesn't label you as a bandit even after you die.
ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted July 6, 2012 Better solutions here. And here. Not immediately knowing others' intentions is part of what makes this game intense and emotional.Asking the magical intentions faery to fly around painting everyone pretty colors so you can tell exactly who they are and what they're going to do from 1500m away is crude and unnecessary. Also, please search. This topic is covered ad nauseum in 50 other threads on the forums right now.Cheers.

Lukio (DayZ) 24 Posted July 6, 2012 I really hope there is some way of identifying people who actually want to socialize & cooperate with others, currently my circle of trust includes only people with whom I am on Teamspeak or Skype - anyone else is deemed a potential threat. There is no useful mechanic of trust/empathy/humanity implemented and its no surprise we get what we have right now.
Yeni 53 Posted July 6, 2012 You can still tell if someone is a "Bandit" just by looking at them. Your characters heartbeart goes up when you look at a bandit.
xeaglenec 13 Posted July 6, 2012 Hello' date='I'm playing DayZ for a long time now.[/quote']If you are playing for such long time (which i doubt), how could you have missed the shit ton of threads asking the same fucking shit?! this thread should have been locked from the start. JustThatEpic 72 Posted July 6, 2012 Trust no one except your friends. Problem solved.
ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted July 6, 2012 I really hope there is some way of identifying people who actually want to socialize & cooperate with othersThere is some way of doing that. Attempt to socialize and cooperate with someone. If you succeed, you have successfully identified an individual who wants to socialize and cooperate.Beyond that, what do you want? Magic powers that allow you to know ahead of time without putting forth the effort?Finding ways to make contact and establish trust will be a big part of DayZ in the future, I expect. There aren't going to be any magic powers that tell you from a distance whether someone is going to be a friend. You will have to reach out, make contact, and, yes, even take the risk of being wrong and paying the price.Even people you DO link up and cooperate with may be suspect. How do you know they're not playing a long con, just looking to get into your group so they can access your tent storage and steal vehicles from you? You can't, and you shouldn't. Infiltration, betrayal and mistrust will also be a part of the game.If you are unwilling to make the effort of making contact and not willing to accept the risk of being wrong or being betrayed/lied to, then you will be relegated to your existing circle of trust.Any system that does this for you - conveniently categorizes players into nice neat little piles for you like over here we have the "huggy-hugs" and these ones are the "nasty-bads" and you can tell who is who because the good guys wear clown suits and the bad guys have horns and forked tongues is going to undermine the authenticity of DayZ and bypass much of the human emotional element that is, in my understanding, meant to play a central role in the experience of DayZ.Basically you want to skip over all the social and emotional challenges and get right to "playing the game." But you're ignoring the fact that the social and emotional challenges are just as important to DayZ as shooting zombies.
Lukio (DayZ) 24 Posted July 6, 2012 I really hope there is some way of identifying people who actually want to socialize & cooperate with othersThere is some way of doing that. Attempt to socialize and cooperate with someone. If you succeed' date=' you have successfully identified an individual who wants to socialize and cooperate.[/quote']Did do that effort ... went wrong too often. As soon as people have a weapon they turn into sociopaths. There used to be times when that method worked and I had some fun moments, but currently its just a fragfest for most players. Finding the random decent human by trial and error is not really a great method, is it now?Basically you want to skip over all the social and emotional challenges and get right to "playing the game." But you're ignoring the fact that the social and emotional challenges are just as important to DayZ as shooting zombies.Which social challenges? 99% of players now are anti-social bastards. Finding the 1% by your suggested method isn't really forthcoming. I play with my buddies on Teamspeak, based on my prior experience everyone else is deemed a potential threat.Social mechanisms (and challenges) in games don't work the same as in RL, you are talking and shooting at pixels, not human beings. Its not like I go to a bar, say "Hi is this seat free" and get killed and I probably wouldn't seat myself next to someone looking all grumpy and drunk. Edit: Between humans there are many more nuances going on in interaction that can't be displayed in a game and go much further than just saying "Are you friendly? In directional." Posture, composure, expression, body language, scent etc. this is what I mean when I am asking for better ways to gauge if someone is a threat or not. The heartbeat thing is a small step in the right direction.2nd Edit: I am against any kind of system that will simply display a smiley or sad face above the players head and immediately identify them. Not asking for huggy hugs or baddy baddies. Just more indirect ways that mimic the way humans size up someone else.
Copgun 2 Posted July 6, 2012 Sometimes the heartbeat doesn't work, sometimes it does and when it does it's bugged. 90% of the time I look at somebody and never hear the heartbeat, the other 10% I only hear the heartbeat after I've killed the guy.
Wulfear 6 Posted July 6, 2012 Heartbeat only works at like 20 paces.....so it's a fucking joke.I'd like bandit skins back, BUT having Camo and Ghillie suit makes this impossible, or at least, some new bandits variations would be required. Feel free to stop making threads about it....
