IDK the time it takes to despawn but I have found my own body and looted it

You can indeed , But bare in mind that other players can, and 95% of the time will hide your body if they find it, De-spawn on players is about 15 mins last I checked

You can indeed, I got killed on my very first day shortly after finding a hatchet near pridoroky, I respawned and in my amazement I could immediately see the guy who just killed me. I waited for him to leave and I quickly went back to my corpse and removed the hatchet and spare bandage :P

I hear it's bad for the world's entirety for you to see yourself in the future / past. I guess this applies to seeing oneself dead too. How are you feeling?

Edit: If you went there and you were dead then there's no possibility for you to ever come to your body since you're already dead and can't get to the body therewise. Right?

The despawn time seems to be somewhat random. Sometimes the body will be there for a few hours. Some times a few seconds, but if you can reach your body in time it is perfectly possible to loot it

The hiveserver cleans up bodies in intervals of 15 minutes, so the despawn time is somewhere between 15 and 0 minutes. If it takes longer then 10 minutes to get to your body, it will probably be gone already.

I did this today. Was killed a by a sniper, who I'm pretty sure server hopped to get a better position on me. After dying I ran back and my body was still there. I don't know exactly how long that took, but I ran non-stop from Kamaenka to NW of Cherno and it was fine.

Thankfully the sniper had better gear than me and all he took was my meat.

Absolutely

I think what a lot of people seem to be doing is once they've been shot/go down, they server hop to die on another server. That way they can almost guarantee their body's still there.

It's frowned upon though I reckon

I too did this yesterday and got lost getting back to my body, so it probably took me well over an hour, but my body was still there, as were many of my items not taken by the killer!

It's got to be longer then 15 minutes. I accidentally clicked respawn once while at stary sober, ran all the way back to my body, definitely took longer then 15 minutes.

Also, if you disconnect from the server completely your body will despawn, if you just abort then click disconnect and then join back your body will be there for a limited time

I believe that "despawn" timer is for dead zombies, etc. I died, and took my sweet time (at least an hour) getting gear and heading back to my corpse for vengence. Of course my gear had been looted by my killer, but he did not hide the body and it was still there.
