Point system

Recommended Posts

Hello, I've recently downloaded this mod, and while I haven't gotten too far, I do like the concept and hope this mod continues to improve. As such, I may drop by here from time to time to input some feedback.

Anyway, one of my better ideas right now is to implement a point system which tallies your score off of several factors, including scavenging, vehicle repair, zombie kills and player kills. Now the first several are simple, you gain points for doing stuff, with some things being better than others (like finding NVG's will be worth more than finding a ton of tin cans). The real meat though is in how player kills gain points. What I propose is that the points a player is worth is based off several factors, the primary of which will be what the victim himself was carrying. In short, someone with nothing but a handgun will be worth less pointwise than someone with NVG's in a ghillie suit. In addition, the game will punish you if you kill someone who hasn't picked up a weapon yet by either A, not giving you any points, or B, actually giving you negative points for wasting your ammo on some defenseless shmuck. What this means is that if you're someone who just stays on the beach killing scrubs when they don't have an effective way to defend for themselves, your point total will be much lower than someone who hunts players inland where they have much better gear and can pose more of a threat to you. To further promote killing for survival, loot picked up from dead players will still add to your point total (maybe at a slightly diminished point value opposed to finding them on the ground), so if you kill some endgame ghillie suit NVG Sniper player, not only will you gain points for killing them, you will also gain points for looting their body and picking up their epic loot.

Finally, while all these points will reset when you die, I propose having a cumulative total linked to your account, maybe even with the ability to save some character's scores, kind of like a showcase of your previous attempts. Hopefully, adding a point system will both give endgame players a choice to continue living to gain more points, encourage more inland gameplay, and discourage killing scrubs on the beach, all without changing any actual gameplay or adding funny mechanics like bandits or morals.

TLDR version: Gain points, gain bragging rights. Better geared victims give better points. Spawn killing gives no points.
