If you disconnected while in shock, you will stay on the server for the duration of the shock. This will decrease the amount of ALT+F4 when you have taken PVP damage or zombie damage for an example.

Oh yes! The good thing is that it doesn't matter for those who have bad internet or those who recieve a bluescreen because does it really matter if you are in shock on the server or your player being in shock on the server while you are doing other things, you will die anyway.

Does this method has any adverse effects?

This seems like a better idea than dropping unconscious the next time you enter, and would use the shock mechanic for a much greater purpose.
