Updating Game Data after Release?

Hey all, I'm just wondering after there's a major release, 1.19, 1.20, etc.

After the main game has been updated should we do Tools -> Extract Game Data 
after this update too?

And would this remove the projects currently sitting in the P:/ drive or would it just update the DZ folder?

It crossed my mind just now whilst I was retexturing how/if the DZ folder would get the newly updated data or should I be doing the above when there's an update to the game?
