Suicidedrone 2 Posted July 6, 2012 HeySo im really liking this mod and im currently playing it on a 3570k with a 560ti, but something that annoys me quite a bit is that this appears to be the only game that just revs up my gpu fan to a really high rpm and making a lot of noise. Ive tried different ingame settings, but nothing seems to help. Is there something specific with this game that taxes the gpu that is possible to adjust? Ramboness (DayZ) 15 Posted July 6, 2012 hows the celsius looking while you play?also you can adjust the gpu fan with the overlocking program along it.
ultimateburger 0 Posted July 6, 2012 Yeah, your GPU fan kicks into gear as it gets hotter. ARMA 2/DayZ can really heat up a computer. You could always try adding more exhaust fans to your case, but that is more noise as well.
Bunster 7 Posted July 6, 2012 Best venting i ever done was taking the side pannel off my comp and getting a little stand alone desk fan blasting into it, never had heat problems, jsut a bit of dust :PIts a good idea, saves money on buying more fans cos its multipurpose
Suicidedrone 2 Posted July 6, 2012 Right after running a monitor while playing it goes from 36 C idle/1740 rpm to 90 C/3180 rpm.

But, I reversed the fan so that it whisked heat out.Right after running a monitor while playing it goes from 36 C idle/1740 rpm to 90 C/3180 rpm.90C is... a tad bit high. Is the fan really dusty? Suicidedrone 2 Posted July 6, 2012 No, not really just cleaned it a few days ago, while doing some upgrading. And as i said, it seems to only be arma thats doing something with it.
Flying On Fumes 33 Posted July 6, 2012 Mine use to make a noise till I got a more powerful 750w PSU, now it's all gone quiet, just an idea... :)
Suicidedrone 2 Posted July 6, 2012 Well the thing is I am at a complete loss why's its so high. #8 i got a highend 800w PSU powering the rig, so it should have enough headroom on that.
Flying On Fumes 33 Posted July 6, 2012 Is it a cheap 800w PSU or is it a branded one like OCZ etc? , that makes a difference ... :)My old PSU was 800w unbranded and the GFX card use to make one hell of a noise and get hot when playing Arma, I now own an OCZ 750w and none of the fans make a noise and GFX card has dropped 15c, strange or what :)

Suicidedrone 2 Posted July 6, 2012 its a corsair, the other components are running pretty cool and are pretty low noise.
Flying On Fumes 33 Posted July 6, 2012 Dont think the unbranded PSU spread the power to each piece of hardware properly :)
ultimateburger 0 Posted July 6, 2012 Maybe the heatsink is a little loose on your 560ti? I dunno what to tell you. If you are willing to sacrifice some FPS, you could always underclock it a little and see if that helps.
Flying On Fumes 33 Posted July 6, 2012 Get an Artic cooler for it, them cases on Nvidia and ATI are not too good at venting heat compared to a nice twin fan cooler... :)
Suicidedrone 2 Posted July 6, 2012 the artic cooler looks pretty good. That sounds like a winner, thanks for the help :D
