Seeing yourself on your map?

Do some servers enable that and some don't? I'm terrible at map reading, so it's REALLY helpful for me, just so I can know for future need.

Not sure about in Dayz.. but in Arma general it depends upon the server setting difficulty level. So in Novice type servers you can see yourself on the map. I only play Veteran in Dayz.., try the lowest difficulty level server to test...

I think what makes this an awesome game is the whole orienteering side of it. This is the only game I've ever played that forces you to use your brain to figure out where you are, and it's awesome.

More game developers need to realise this is the way forward. Most of us are adults and don't need our hands to be held.
