Horde/ Patrols/ a reason to stockpile

FIRST
Love the game Days Gone, and it has hordes in it that make the game more immersive and intense. I figured something similar, where every so often, as an event type scenario like the heli crashes, you'll find hordes of undead in the cities roaming along the roads, they don't need to be fast boys, just slow walking classic zombie horror. I Dunno if the servers could handle like 3 dozen undead together, but if you reduce the typically functions and just leave the basic slow walking and attacking, you could add in that they can destroy barriers, and even force doors open, as well as have their "senses" heightened.
This makes trying to guard your loot not ONLY from other players, but the undead themselves, as foods stored would be able to attract them, same with other "smells".
I did a stream about a few months back, and got NBC gear and at night, went into Radunin i believe, and the horror element was so thrilling it made my blood rush.
I want MORE experiences like that.
Also add additional barrier builds other than the standard stuff. maybe add a feature to be able to board up windows and even bust out windows and vault through em? You can even add that to the undead, and even horde function.
This'll create an immersive and dynamic experience that this IS a zombie apocalypse.

I also suggest Patrols: Generic NPCs who roam around trying to "eliminate" the dead and players. this'll be an alternative twist for Heli Crashes, Police Car crashes, and itll even add HumVee crashes where instead of undead, itll be NPCs just walking around, shooting some undead, and even players if they spot em. this'll create an immersive environment and really amp up the feel of this survival horror game. You can even have an event called "Sweeping" where itll be a small caravan of NPC troopers/ NBC personnel moving along the highway shooting at the hordes as well as players.
This'll prevent people from just shooting recklessly and such near certain areas, it'll also create tension during firefights around different areas, and at the end of the events, the NPCs die anyhow and become apart of the horde.
To survive these both, you'd need to be sneaky, or even stockpile armaments, which people ALREADY do... so other than being raided by players, this'll give people a reason to ACTUALLY use their weapons.
And if players can work together, they can even get good loot from both.
