zamp 4 Posted July 6, 2012 Make character position be saved on the server connected to and not in your character data. If you swap server you appear at the coast just like it was a new character but still keep your gear. That's pretty much it.

jwo7777777 7 Posted July 6, 2012 Interesting game mechanic idea. I propose a modification. Have the location still saved to the hive, but have the hive add the server ID to it. When a non-matching server asks for the player data, then have the hive send an out-of-bounds location value. Change the server code to do the spawn as per your idea when it receives out-of-bounds locations.(Why do it this way? Prevents server side hacks that may bypass the relocated spawn directive and place the player at their desired location rather than a coast spawn. If the server never receives the player's desired location from server hopping, they are not likely to guess it.)Been suggested before. Been rejected before. Dreganius (DayZ) 55 Posted July 6, 2012 Search harder then. I've read suggestions with this exact same premise, and the general response was "No, thanks."Speaking of. @OP: No, thanks.
DesertRose 8 Posted July 6, 2012 How to FiX: Make character persist in game for 1 minute after aborting or losing connection. If they wish to disconnect regularly, Make it so the player has to sit through a countdown timer for 1 minute after hitting abort, in a state where they cannot move, aim or shoot. Killing the players character for aborting is too harsh for those who have to disconnect regularly to de-bug their game
Mangles 1 Posted July 6, 2012 I don't server hop but I do not play on the same server every time I play. I don't require a regular server, nor do I particularlly want to be restricted to just one server. If it is full than I have no other options. This solution forces people to play on the same server all the time or loose their progress. Making it really inconvinient if your server is full or you can't remember your server due to not playing it for awhile.
PkStormx 23 Posted July 6, 2012 yeah thats a really bad idea....then snipers would just sit at the shore and wait for people to spawn.
