Changes to the climate, health, armor and more

Recommended Posts

These things were bouncing around my mind and now I have the ability to speak up:

Climate: I thought about it for quite some time, that 1/4 of servers should have spring, the other quarter summer, 3rd quarter autumn and the last one winter.

All of the seasons would change several aspects of the game. Autumn would be the standard that servers currently have. Winter would of course turn up the difficulty to fight with hypothermia, but would also let perishable foods to have almost doubled expiration date. Spring would just have less food from nature and summer while having almost as much natural food as autumn it'd make perishables rot or dry out twice as fast (if there's sunny it'd dry out, if there's rain it'll rot) and occasional heatwaves will make you cool yourself in a stream, intentionally drench your clothes and/or stop with excessive moevement for a while.

Why I suggest it: Communities have already implemented at least winter to the game.

Health: I don't think combining trauma damage and on example dehydration damage is appropiate.

I see the future DayZ having 2 separate healths, one would be affected by trauma, the other by metabolism. Metabolism health would drop because of on example manutrition or bad temperature, the trauma one because of attacks. Metabolism one would increase with time while having at least yellow "apple, bottle" and white "thermometer" and health one would increase accordingly to what blood level we have.

Armor: Nerfing vests (after watching WOBO's video), but slightly buffing helmets.

For vests I don't mean only damage and shock being absorbed less, but also when hit with shotgun and sniper rifle callibers you should not stumble, but to fall on your chest/back depending on the angle of fire. I don't necessarily want stumble, because it makes people bigger target in a heat of a fight and laying down could somewhat increase their survivability.

Helmets became a bit less useful and I propose a slight buff to their health and shock absorption for the cost of when shot in the head by the most powerful rounds yet not one-shoting the user there should feel flashbang effect on their ears (but only with their hearing, not sight). Also there's an Enduro helmet, that has a police variant and from all my visits in the police stations I haven't found a single one. I'd appreciate if this was updated.

Stamina: Sprinting with the same speed while being both naked and carrying gear of your 3 other teammaters isn't enjoying. You could experiment with animations when injured and then add disabling of sprint option when being both encumbered and wounded.

Zombies: I consider being able to knock out zombies instead of being able to only kill them as a good move. Players can be knocked out with blunt weapons, so why not zombies? Also rubber slugs would see some more anti-zombie usefullness.

Other:

- Brain Prion Disease (cannibal syndrome) should ultimately lead to death after playing 24h hours with the character no matter the health. I had an occasion to read some biology books and videos and from what I learned ultimately this will lead to death faster than natural.

- Tier 4 civilian food rather popular in Soviet bloc countries: Can of sweetened condensed milk. The one that I buy weighs 530g and has 322kcal/100g, in total 1706kcal.

- Shock damage influencing the movement speed.

- I'd appreciate more dangerous animals, on example remaking boar's behaviour to aggresive (and I had the occasion to experience it, fortunately not on my flesh, I was just scared) or a viper, that instead of actively attacking player will wait until there's no more escape option. Still you can skin it and have snake meat.

- Speaking of animals, introducing small game to hunt and birdshots would be awesome.

- After seeing some other suggestions, I feel increasing the amount of server slots to around 80 is appropiate in order to get some more player interaction.

That's all. Thank you for your attention.
