Building around a bonfire?

So, I've got a spot i would really like to build a base, I'm just not sure if it will work the way I want it too. Its at one of the large bonfire spawns. Its bad ass, because there's a big circle around it of rock and wooden benches, and I would always have light and a place to warm up. What I worry about is that it won't spawn if I have a base around it.. gonna give it a go, see what happens.
