Marvel (DayZ) 18 Posted July 5, 2012 So I was just playing DayZ and re-spawned for the 1.543.219th time after either getting killed by a glitched zombie or shot down by a player while I just spawned on the beach. This time was different though, made my way in-land and after a while I was quite packed with gear: guns, drinks, food, blood, morphine so everything I needed to survive. Then I had to run from 4 or 5 zombies that spotted me. Suddenly I was losing control over my character and it started to make all kinds of dance moves right in between a lot of zombies. Next thing I know I got teleported with all the other players on the server, about 50 of them, high into the sky and we all fell to our dead. That's just f*cking insane! And then I'm not even talking about that time where an Apache helicopter flew over, shooting everybody on sight (ok I just did).My point is, this game is getting to a point where it becomes unplayable. I mean this game already consist of glitches alone which I can deal with to some level considering it's (pre)alpha, but right now it has even more hackers than CoD and Battlefield together.Makes me kinda sad to see a game like this, which has huge potential go down the drain like this. The idea behind this game is great, best idea within the last decade but I think it's just worked out poorly. So my suggestions (yes finally, sorry for the rant and thank you if you're still reading) are:- Dayz concept is proven, so label this a proof of concept built, throw it in the trash and start from scratch again, let Bohemia support it with their team and make it a standalone game. Set out a course with community input and do things right from the start.- Do closed alpha testing with server admins and a group of trustworthy players. Do a public beta when it's close to RC.- Either let server admins have there own, private hive (or public if they want) or make this a MMO with Bohemia/DayZ servers only like BF3. These servers can be funded by selling the game and/or with micro transactions by selling in-game items. This 'semi-dedicated' thing is never gonna work, maybe short term but not in the long run.And yes, these suggestions would be bad for me because that would mean I can't play this game anymore, but it will be worth the wait when it gets released. Those are just my €0.02. bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted July 5, 2012 How would that be any different than you stopping playing until it's in beta or full release? It comes across like "I don't like the flaws, so nobody else can play it until they're fixed"Obviously Alpha testing isn't for you. A lot of us enjoy the process of testing and the current state the game is in. There's no way a small team of testers on a couple closed servers can possibly be as beneficial to the project as the current player base is.
Specter911 2 Posted July 5, 2012 Closing the alpha like this with all the current players playing it, having a great time already is as much of a fucked up cock block as getting turned on by a chick, get a little head, then she gets up, walks up stairs and fucks your dad.Basically its a bad idea all around, anyway I believe they are doing something with Arma 3, like compatibility to carry over what they have worked on so far or something. All I know is this is still an alpha, bugs always, as for hackers they will be banned, as well you must be on some fucked up servers, haven't seen 1 hacker yet, duplicators perhaps.Perhaps find some better servers if possible. Lachmayne 2 Posted July 5, 2012 I have never had the problems that you have. First 3 days of playing I was a noob. I figured out how to play and now I usually live about 5-20 hours of in game time. I have only died once to a hacker. The game is in Alpha, If you can't handle it you might as well just leave. This game is amazing for being in Alpha. Sure there are kinks that need worked out, but this game is very easily playable and enjoyable. You are going to have to Adapt to it being Alpha or leave. WhiteTigerShiro 25 Posted July 6, 2012 Sounds to me like you had a hacker. I've never heard of anything like that ever happening.
FlashHawk4 44 Posted July 6, 2012 If you want to throw this game in the trash, do it. But don't speak for the entire playerbase without consulting us! I'm enjoying it, myself, and I've managed to dodge hackers pretty well. At the very least, I've managed to avoid the world-nuking hacks. But I don't come out and say "there aren't hackers, because I never see them", now do I?You can say whatever you want, but we can too. And we say you probably aren't for Alpha testing. The objective of it is FINDING PROBLEMS and then DEALING WITH THEM. You seem pretty good at the first one, but not so much at the second. I think most people in the game industry approve of community-wide alpha/beta tests, when they can. After all, if you can get thousands of players hopping all over your servers and playing the game in its purest, least influenced form, you get many more bug reports than if you have thirty-two professionals playing the game like they were diagnostic technicians. In fact, I filed a bug report this afternoon, a glitch that may have been missed if it were a closed alpha. You're encountering problems. But it's an ALPHA GAME. Just because people are exploiting the loopholes and unfinished sections of the game doesn't mean it should be scrapped. That's like saying a house is too ugly and drafty and should be torn down, when it's still in the framing stage.
