Runtz 0 Posted July 5, 2012 No no, I'm not saying that its a full-proof way to avoid zombie attacks, its just temporary. Have you ever been followed by zombies into a house with no ammo on your gun? Maybe you're bleeding, or in need to pull out a hatchet, maybe even both! Well, here's a temporary solution that last about 30-60 seconds. Locks! Yes, I'm talking about locks you would find around factories and what not, you put them on doors and have time to prepare yourself. Also, this would drive the suspense factor helpless, trying to bandage your wounds before the horde breaks through that door. The Zombies would then take the time to bang so hard on the door they would break the lock! (because breaking doors would just be silly, I mean come on) So tell me what you think. Cinc 3 Posted July 5, 2012 i think step 1 should be to keep the zombies from just walking through closed existing doors.
Mr.Hugglepuff 0 Posted July 5, 2012 I think that's a amazing idea Runtz, that would create a lot more quick decisions which is one of the core values of this mod. Now we both think Rocket should add this to the mod :)
Runtz 0 Posted July 5, 2012 Thanks, I was thinking of a addon that would help the players without lowering the difficulty and making it more fun and suspenseful.
Jaan 1 Posted July 5, 2012 making zombies attack the door ect would be to difficult to implement because it doesnt exsists already, i think. but good idea though
Runtz 0 Posted July 5, 2012 making zombies attack the door ect would be to difficult to implement because it doesnt exsists already' date=' i think. but good idea though[/quote']Well, zombies attack already and the door is an entity (keep in mind they both exist in-game too which facilitates the scripting). I don't believe it would be too hard to make the zombies attack it in manner of scripting. The lock could prove somewhat of a difficulty but I don't really believe the zombies attacking doors thing would be much of a problem. Anyways thanks for your feedback :)
symptom 185 Posted July 5, 2012 So if a bandit was after you, you could lock him out long enough to log out of game? Bad idea.
darrkbeast 0 Posted July 6, 2012 Sounds good but realisticly, if you dont have time to bandage what makes you think you could shut door and slap a lock on before the zombie that was running after you is right there. Unless the event took 0 seconds like basicly clicking the door as your run in. I like the idea but unless you somehow agro the zombie while on the other side of the building seems a waste of time to implement.
Budzilla (DayZ) 2 Posted July 6, 2012 think step 1 should be to keep the zombies from just walking through closed existing doors.i think step 1 should be to keep the zombies from just walking through closed existing doors. This^' date=' I have yet to see a zombie NOT walk through a door. Probably about 80-90% of the time they can walk right through it. This NEEDS to be fixed, seeing as of 1.7.1 the feature of zombies not being able to open doors was added. So if a bandit was after you, you could lock him out long enough to log out of game? Bad idea. How is it a bad idea? If Rocket added the disconnect timer, and the unbindable Alt-F4 suicide key, this would be perfect.
