Any word on "Waiting for Character to create" bug?

Hey there, been looking all over for other threads touching on this issue, but no other threads seemed to yield any solution.

I have everything working up until I try to join a game. I click join.

It shows the list of everyone in the server with me all on the "blue" team or whatever.

I click OK.

It loads.

Then shows a loading screen of some tanks and stuff.

Loads for about 35 seconds.

Then jumps back to the server browsing screen with a faded 'Waiting for Character to Create" message still sitting faded behind all of the lists of servers.

Any solution? Thanks so much friends!

I had this on my first day. Re-installing battleye for AO fixed it for me and haven't had the problem since.
