Question about Bandit Mechanics

Recommended Posts

Hey i just have a few questions about the mechanics of bandits...

1. First, what makes your character consider a bandit? And by this i mean what do you need to do so that if someone kills you, they get a bandit kill instead of a murder?

2. Is there any indicator when another player is a bandit?

3. If you kill another player in self defense, does it still tally as a murder?

Thanks in advance guys, and a shout out to the developers, you guys are awesome!

From what i have learned from playing/reading, as of the recent patch there is no indication of whether others are bandits or not, and to become a bandit I'm fairly certain that it is a certain number of murders that you need to commit.

as for your self defense scenario, it still counts as a murder i believe (if they aren't a bandit).

Correct anything ive said if its wrong guys!

1. See #3

2. There is a heartbeat sound when you are close to the player, but it is not a good indicator, because it can be random

3. I remember reading in a patch note that if someone shot you or at you, the system would let you shoot back/kill them without it tallying as a murder. Don't know if that is still in place though.

I previously killed a sniper in Cherno and got a murder for it, after he had hit me at least once. It was strange because I did not get the murder straight away, I logged out 5 minutes after the encounter to go to bed, then the next day I had a murder on the debug counter.
