This happens to me several times a week. I thought it was primarily connected to the 'X' button but it seems to impact all interaction with objects you don't have in your inventory and thus the 'A' button (take to hands) and more as well.
I try to pick up / interact / craft and nothing happens. When crafting/digging and so on the 'countdown' starts for maybe half a second and then disappers. I can drop stuff from my inventory, but can not pick the same stuff up again.
Example: Yesterday I burnt my much needed steaks to charcoal since I couldn't get them out of the pot. I couldn't even take the pot to my hands or turn off the cas canister I was using, wasting a brand new (large) gas canister in the process as well. Also couldn't re-bury my crates (where I kept cooking supplies and such), and they were of course largely raided/emptied when i started playing today.
Logging out and back in sometimes fixes the problem, but not always. Yesterday I just had to let it go and hope for the best after a couple of logouts/complete Xbox restarts did not change the situation.
I play on Xbox and only on unmodded official servers.
