Add to Admin Log

It seems it is possible to add to the Admin log as I've seen some mods write to it.

I'd like to look at learning how I can hook into adding things like when a Player kills a zombie or animal. Or when a player picks something up etc. Is this possible via modding? I would assume it would only be a server-side mod ?

The admin logs, from what I've read, were more for looking into people hacking and such so they only show when a player is being hit or when a player has been killed or died.
