Marcy mark 10 Posted May 17, 2020 So ive played around a month and learnt quite abit. The struggle for food mainly came from waiting around apple trees or looking for mushrooms when you first start. Thats a waste of time the best place i found to find food is on zombies dont be afraid to kill them try take them down one at a time and ull come across tins etc. Try find a metal object to allow u to open them. Once your stable with a few tins try find seeds and a pick or shovel and water then your set foodwise to be able to go inland with no issues and grow your own food. I find tomatoes are best as you can take the seeds out and constantly regrow them when u need. Theres probably other methods of food survival but i find this way works for me and being able to stop dying from starvation.
Ra.bo 1 Posted May 20, 2020 Just get the long dark that game has everything this has with less bugs in the inventory systems. Also the world gets colder and harder to make it in. Day z just makes you progressively weaker till death. The long dark you have time to learn as you go. Day z is the DnD version of survival with a whole subculture of modders and over privileged fan boys. If your employed time could be spent on a game where spending hours reading about how to cook a goat and what is needed to complete crafts. When the character in the game could do the reading learn the skill all you need to do is rember what materials to get. Not drop this item hold this item pick dropped item up it's on the stick, so crunchy beyond clunky. Yes there are tutorials on YouTube but it's always harder in practice by a factor of 4. ALWAYS. I have been gaming for 30yrs this shit deserves it 1.8 stars

Food and water drops are to low. I even walked a rail track looking for 2 small stones to make a knife which took ages again a stupid idea. I got a stick and try to sharpen it for a spear but nope only get arrows. When I look at scum I think they have a better balance of eating, drinking and crafting. You can even cook human meat to survive in that game. This game is just 99% hunting for food and water with the odd bit of killing people. Maybe surviving should be 50%, crafting 25% and 25% anything else. If I got dropped in a forest I can survive no problem as i know how to build traps to catch animals or catch water. In Dayz you cannot do anything like this. I believe the devs are taking it easy and make it so they you spend too much time looking for food and water so they do not need to add too much content. Are people not allowed to mention the bad parts of the game? I'm just curious as not everyone is a fan boy and would like to enjoy the game with more content that food & water searching.

EzyStriderPS4 191 Posted June 17, 2020 Do fruit trees drop fruit when you chop them with an axe? That would be cool.
