Gates in buildings

So more and more I’m finding “bases” within buildings where a fence has been built behind a door but you can’t destroy the frame from the outside. The wall comes off but not the frame. What’s this all about? How does anyone get out from the inside?

Managed to get the prompt “destroy fence” when holding a hatchet and getting the camera angle right pointing towards the wire. Tricky!
