[FIXED] Cannot join any server...."Cannot play/edit"

Recommended Posts

I have ARMA II DVD, OA DVD, and BAF download (not steam) all retail along with @Dayz installed. I do not have a ARMA II OA folder located in my install - I do not know if this makes a difference. I can tell you that when I do run ArmaII/OA "@DayZ" is displayed on the load up screen to the right.

When I try to log into a server I get the "cannot play/edit..." error.

I cannot figure out why I'm getting this error.

Note: I have tried using the ARMA II Launcher to launch the game in CO mode, but I'm still getting the same error when trying to log into a server.

It's possible that retail combines them both into one big folder in which I don't doubt honestly, cannot play/edit sounds like it isn't reading all of the files correctly. It's either you may of derp'd up on the launch options (I doubt this) or that you didn't extract them out of the .rar/.zip filetypes. But with retail it could be anything since I'm not experienced.

Hrm... Cannot Play/Edit is a result of missing files or the game can't find the files or the shortcut, this may be a problem on your end and not the mod. In the guide it's stating to make sure you have the 'launch options' correct.

I set up the launch options properly - I even see the "@dayz" line under "ArmA 2" on the right side of the menu screen.

I have the same problem, except i have both Arma 2 games through steam and i have the launch options at "-nosplash -mod=@dayz -world=empty" and it still gives me the "cannot play/edit" error and boots me out right as im about to join the game

I copied

\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2\AddOns

into

\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\Addons

Saw this on another post and it fixed the problem for me

I got a Solution if the size of your dayz_weapons.pbo for example is 1 KB then you have to download the DayZ mod files again and just drag the files in the Folder into @DayZ/Addons

FIXED:

I did the following:

SIX-UPDATER INSTALLATION

1) Download and install Six-Updater from http://www.six-updater.net/

2) Go to options and make sure the target path for Operation Arrowhead main folder and mod folder is correct.

3) It should say at the bottom that you have A2 Operation Arrowhead (Combined Operations) installed.

4) Create a 'New Preset' from the 'Preset' tab in the top menu. You can name it 'DayZ'

5) Click the 'Mods' tab in the main window. In the searchbox type in '@DayZ'.

6) Right click the DayZ mod in the browser window and 'add to preset'.

7) Click on 'Home' tab and 'Install or Update mods'. It will automacitally download the latest version of the mod for you.

8) To run the game click on 'Launch the game' through Six-Updater.

#8 above I could not find the "Launch the game" in the Six - Updater. I just used the regular .exe Arma II CO icon on my desktop to run the game.

Once the game started I went to Expansions and enabled DayZ, exited the game, restarted and everything works fine!
