We need the admin access that pc enjoys!

Its not a jealousy thing other then yes obviously we dont have it and want it but you get the point.

The base that was given does not cut it.

Change the day/night cycle and as of recent can now ban people from your server (which if we are being honest should not require a restart and the booting of the whole server to take effect) but thats for another time.

We need these option out there. We need to be able to make our servers unique from one another.

Not to mention the playing community that isnt hosting needs options for the type of match they might wanna jump into on any given day..

Maybe they or I is feeling a high loot find plenty of crap and just go to war server today.

Maybe tomorrow im feeling an ultra hardcore no loot or crazy amounts to be found real grind out your survival go.

Maybe today we dont wanna see many Z's or overly strong ones or vice versa as we want players dieing to players.

Ya know whatever tweaks that can be made to these settings as ive never had a server on pc so i dont actually know what they have for options im just pretty sure its alot and can really tailor make an experience for any given server.

Im willing to bet some would come back reopen or open up servers if you open up the interface cause as of now the slots and the difference in day/night cycle is the only thing that gives any server a unique look to it.

Once people seen that there was next to nothing you can do to them and they are all essentially the same what was the incentive to keep their own when all they gotta do is slide into a open community server and basically get the very same thing.?

Not sure why you're asking for PC options when you're not even sure what options they have.   .....but I get the gist of your plea.

btw, we also can force FPV on our servers although I agree that more options would really be nice.  Obviously, they may have some limitations due to their affect on performance, etc.

Ahhh yes assumptions. In a world of consumerism its a crazy thought to think that i may just may have brought it for pc years ago( around that 2013-2014 area.

Even then i was always saying and wanting this on console just for the ease and relaxation of vs sitting at my pc alone.

Tho i never got too far into the options before the annoyance of all the bugs and glitching had me walking away i did/do own it for pc just saying.

Now you wanna go into how foolish i am for walking into the game a 2nd time even if its a different play system that i can understand as i did knowingly get it again even if its been years since i played and can drag my buddies with me as none of them pc game enough to have machines for real games.

Sooo yeahhh.

Easy there Luves.  I read the above from your post which is why I said I wasn't sure why you were asking for PC options.  I don't know what they have available to them either.  I stopped building PC rigs before DayZ was available as an ARMA mod.

Regardless, I agreed with you.  It would be nice to have more options on the servers as I rent one myself.  As far as what is possible, I have no clue but I like some of your ideas.

Sorry i should have worded that better. Ive never had a pc server so i dont know every option or mechanic that can be altered.

But from playing and talking to people and cruising online sources i do have some base knowledge/idea of what is possible.

I just figured as i wasnt all that knowledgeable over exaggerating my lack of knowledge wouldnt be the worst thing. 🙂

I ran across an article that for the life of me I can't find again.  It talked about two different server types on PC and how it was possible to modify so many more of the parameters in one but not the other.  .....the other being controlled by the devs I gathered (sort of like our current situation I suppose).

Before 1.0 and the release of server files we (PC users) could rent a public server, much like what you (console dudes) now have with not that many options to change, or a "private shard". It was part of the main hive, but with an own database. We could also rent a 2nd or 3rd server as "slave" with a shared database between those servers. We had the "choice" between a few hosters, for example GamingDeluxe or Fragnet. Latter was the worst experience of my life and I seriously hope that some ppl of the "support" team will burn in hell...but thats another story. Prices for 60 slots were between 120-150 euro of a private shard master server. For more information what you could and couldn't do take a look here:

Now with the server files available you can rent a root server and do pretty much whatever you want, as long as your hardware is beefy enough and you know what you are doing. With modding support the possibilities are endless, but also the chances to screw up big time.

No problem, the history of DayZ PC servers is the reason why we, the old ones, know exactly what you are going through at the moment. Not being able to properly administer your own server is a bad feeling, even worse is the fact that you can't even choose your hoster, cause there is only one, which isn't really known for great support afaik. Maybe the only good thing in your current situation is the even playing field. When every server is basicly the same, except for the slot number, the actions of the administrators will speak for the quality of the server, not the loot count. Bad admins and their servers will go down while the good ones will prevail.

Well, I'm not sure how old the "old ones" are but I'm past the half century mark myself.  😉

I stopped building PC rigs before the DayZ mod days but followed it loosely through YT.  .....was a big fan of the Flashpoint series when it first came out.

Anyhow, quite a shame we don't have more options like the OP mentioned. Perhaps BI will offer more down the road.

Old mainly in relation to the EA process of DayZ...but eh, I'm past 33 so I guess we can count ourselfes as old when looking at the average players 😉 Played OFP to death back in the days and Montignac still gives me nightmares! I also remember some kickass mods like the Winter Campagne or total conversions like FinMod, quality stuff.

Well umm...got a bit off topic. Sorry about that.
