Persistent mouse lag despite fixes

I'm aware that mouse lag is a widespread issue with Arma 2/OA, but despite trying the popular fixes (.cfg changes and removing Smoothing) my actions are still at least 0.5 secs behind my input. Has anyone come across another fix for this problem? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.
