LAN Server Characters and Public Servers

Me, my g/f, and my daughter play DayZ on our LAN server. We try not to play unless all three of us are playing so that neither gets left behind. But sometimes my g/f feel like playing DayZ but my daughter isn't home. Is it possible to have a second character to play on Public servers and a separate one to play on our LAN server when we are all together?
