My suggestions for the future of DayZ

Recommended Posts

Iam not sure if Rocket could integrate this into the Arma 2 mod... but at least these are nice suggestions for a stand alone game like the mod or maybe a Arma 3 Mod.

1. "Zombification": Someone mentioned it already... but i would like to add a little twist to it. "If you die because of a zombie you will come back as a zombie". Great idea. Choose whether you kill him to get your friends gear or just run away to save yourself. Sounds really great. But how about a "Zombification Process"? Everytime you get bitten or attacked by zombie you gain a small % of "Zombification". A random rate between 2-5 % with each attack. If you hit 100 % Zombification you will turn sooner or later. Neither you nor your friends are going to know when unless you tell them.

With the "Zombification" Process we could add something like a extremely rare "Antidote" in the hospitals or military buildings. If you use the antidote it will decrease your zombification status for 5 to 10 %. Add some negative side effects to the Zombification process like that you need to drink and eat more after 60 % or so. Faster exhausted.

Think about it... how will a player hide his zombification process? Will other people know that he needs to eat more and drink more than anybody else? Can i trust someone or do i leave him alone because he might turn into a zombie sooner or later? Do i know if the other people realized it? Do i better run away and try to save myself or do i risk it to get killed by them before? Wouldn`t it be a nice boost for the atmosphere in the game?

2. Cannibalism: Already discussed in the forum. I would really like something to see like this. If you run out of food will you shoot your friend or someone else to survive? or will you risk to die because of starving? With the "Humanity" bar a kinda lovely experience... "Is the new guy a friendly man or a evil monster who is eating other people?"

3. Factions: In the lobby of the game we can see 4 different factions on the left side. Why not using those factions to seperate the players a little bit on a visual level? Make it so that you can recognize the factions by the clothes they are wearing or something like that. Then you could easily decide wether you are lookin for people like you or risk it to join another player from a different faction.

Factions could be "Civilians", "Military" , "Social people (fireman, policeman, priests, medics) and "Outsiders (like Bandits, people who want to be alone (mountain man style) or others...)

4. Zombies:

Needs a lot of bug fixing and balancing because it wouldn`t make sense at the moment with all those bugs (zombies running through doors or walls)

- More Walkers in the City: I was thinking about the idea... increase the Zombies (maybe double the amount) in the cities but make them slow walking like indoors. You could easily sneak around them but they are not a huge thread as long as you dont spend too much time and they surround you in a store or a hospital. You would have to shoot your way through the horde and risk losing a lot of ammunition. Maybe add a feature that you can fortify doors with wood and a toolbar to gain a bit more time before the Zombies break in.

This idea came to my mind when i watched "The Walking Dead". Those Cities (at least the major ones) where crawling with those slow zombies.

You could decide to sneak past them or just shoot them and run through... with high hopes that they wouldn`t reach you.

- Runners in the wildlife and in the city: With them you could make sure that you will attract the "Walkers" around you when you shoot the "Runners" who come after you. Most of the are out in the wilds, less of them in the cities.

- Mutants: Just a bigger zombie, strong and fast, maybe a bit faster than normal player (random spawn). The best way to kill those is a grenade or some other explosives. You can kill them with normal weapons too but it takes a lot more ammunition. You could try to fool them by luring them into a "bear trap". It would give more weight to the use of grenades or other explosives not just for killing players or distracting normal zombies. Let them spawn more in the north or in in the center of the country, not at the coast (might be too much for starting survivors)

I was playing "The Sagittarian" a really nice flash zombie game when this idea came to my mind.

I will update thise thread later because if have some more ideas.

5. Clothing: The normal suvivor has just some old worn-out clothes. He is faster sicks, he better has some heat packs around.Add clothes to the residential houses. Like normal clothes (like it is now) and maybe "Winter" clothes... the winter clothes are better for the wilds when you are in a storm or walking the rain... or just the suggestion 6.

6. Seasons:

- Spring: more animals in the woods, less rain

- Summer: increase of thirst, hot temperatures,

- Autumn: less food in the wilds, storms, more rain, its colder

- Winter: no food in the wilds, you lose faster temperature, you need shelter (maybe a base), or "winter clothes", fire places are important.
