Change character in game?

In game you can only change to a "random character" But in menu there is an option to create your own character. What's the point of that if you can't change it to your own that you want to play with? If you can't play with your own character.

This is how I do to play with my own survivor :

While in the main menu you can "create" your character with your own name, face and clothing. Once this character is created navigate with the server browser and join the server of your choice. IF you don't have any alive character on this server you will be able to play with your new and fresh character.

If you die while playing, go back to the main menu, create your survivor and comeback on the server to play with your own character.

 

Yes I know... Why we have to do this.... Well because I guess ^^'
