cragzeek 29 Posted July 5, 2012 I wonder if this guys tactics are appropriate for new players. Perhaps he can get away with running through a town and kiting zombies thru buildings...I, on the other hand, seem to die rather quickly that way.Is it fear? I'm not sure. But It'll be hard to try his method until I die and lose my current gear. No risk makes me a braver man.
Bludy 324 Posted July 5, 2012 one of the best things i found in this mod is that you really can learn from experience, when go stealthy, when run, when you can pass near a zombie without being seen and when you WILL be spotted, after a couples of early death by zombies( slained, trapped in buildings, broken bones, falls, bled out..) i managed to have all gears or so in a single stard raid in a main town..obviously not military and not medical to sell...but when you reach a good half of what you need it's simple to get on the mountains and find the rest in barns and little settlements. and then you start to fear other players.. Works for me
Nashy08 8 Posted July 5, 2012 This method worked for me in Elektro until someone started shooting at me from the church. I sang to them on direct comm. and then left as they didn't respond. Good method as long as you don't get shot.

No risk makes me a braver man.[/quote']It is a more aggressive play-style that can take a little bit to master, but awkward controls only exasperate the issue. What you don't really see in the video is me accidentally switching to empty cans when I start shooting the zombies. My character started to perform the lengthy animation, and I got hit and started bleeding. The starting player would freak out and die at this point, but I simply ran outside and to the back of the store and bandaged up.I consider the "Quick Start" videos to be geared towards players who have died a few times but are ready to take it a step up. When I live up north after gearing up, I scout towns before entering them and crawl around not attracting zombies, essentially the opposite of what is done in the quick start video, and I recommend this at the end of the video. cragzeek 29 Posted July 5, 2012 @KreaolAh I see, that makes a lotta sense. How much did you die before that was a succesfull run or was it a one shot thing? Also I'd love to see videos of surviving up north. I have two buddies and we all are heading north to survive up there and try and safely gear up. There are a ton of things we don't know though, like how you store items over time, if they stay there cross server, what we use: tents?Ect.
guidez 180 Posted July 5, 2012 I have not died once while making my guides, except once purposefully for the "Understanding Blood" guide. Not because I am some professional though: I have just been really really lucky. If you keep a cool head, you can get around zombies with no problems. Players are your bigger worry, as they are the smart ones (well, mostly ;) ). That Cherno run was a lucky run, but I bet you I could make a similar run again and survive just as dandy, GIVEN there are no other players out to get me.Surviving up north is the fun bit: Up north, I tend to be as quiet as possible. Since medical supplies are not infinite, I don't want to use all my morphines and bandages in one go, like some people tend to do.Tents are only specific to the server they are created on, so your goal should be to find a server that you like and always use it (I am on TX4 all the time). As for storing items, you can use vehicles and tents, though I have read there are too many glitches with tents to make them worthwhile right now, and things can get stolen. The biggest note is to not get attached to your gear. You will die, you will lose it, or a character wipe might come someday (we are in alpha after all).
