Mic no longer working in game

Windows 10, Turtlebeach Z60

 

This had been working fine up till around six months ago, then I stopped playing for a while. Since I started playing again the mic does not work in game. I have changed nothing on my system. When I press the PTT key the mic symbol appears on the screen but nobody can hear me speak.

 

• The mic is the only mic on my system
• The mic is the default device
• The mic is allowed to be accessed in windows privacy settings
• the mic works in Steam chat settings when I press the test mic button
• The mic works in Steam when I have a voice chat with friends
• The mic works in every other application including games, TS3, windows voice recording, Windows Cortana
• Windows updates up to date
• There is no driver for the device, it operates through the generic windows 10 usb driver

 

I managed to get it working a couple of time doing the following

1. Uninstall device in device manager
2. Reboot windows
3. Play DayZ

But that only lasted until I exited DayZ, and the procedure only worked a couple of times, and now I cannot get it to work no matter how many times I go through that procedure.

 

Having no voice comms in DayZ is ruining the whole game experience for me. I cannot take part in RP and when I meet people in game I have to just start fighting because I can't talk to them to show my intentions are friendly.
