Dissappearing body

I was wondering if one's body dissappears right when you hit "restart" upon dying. I was at the big appartment complex above Churno checking up on a few stashes when i guess i became too lackadaisical whilst ascending the stairwell. I cut the corner short and well i plummeted down the elevator shaft to my demise. Upon death i hit restart and luckily i spawned in on the shores of churno. I high tailed back to where i died in under 5 mins only to find one gun and no body, no gear. 

Now I've killed ppl and have been able to stand over their body and loot them for some time. But when the tree falls with no one else around why does its fruit dissappear is my question?

Seems that bodies will stay for quite a while if someone is close, i was on a pile of bodies for 30 mins last night waiting on my buddy to get back to his, but ive had people disappear within 5 mins if not in sight and close... But def doesnt happen when you respawn
