Weapons List Shrank?

1. Why is the list of available weapons shorter than the last time I played?

2. Is it possible to unlock these on a private server?

Yes, if you download and join servers with the Weapon Redux pack mod then you will have all the old weapons back!

everytime the update the dayz version the server admins have to redo all the server files right?

btw, I don't understand why the newer versions took out weaps… there was nothing wrong with a lot of those weaps. supposed to get more not less.

So, with the switch to the new engine, the developers have had to create new animations for weapons and tools ie. reloading, gun jamming, and other animations. The 1.0 release was slotted for December, and by that time there were only completed animations for the weapons and tools that are currently in. They have stated that they plan on "stream-lining" more updates that will slowly be adding in said content.
Or so I've heard....
Kind of awkward to think that they put the cart in front of the horse there.
