Introducing: 28 Days Later Roleplay

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

I’m here to present you with a new concept in DayZ, you’ll find the necessary information below, and of course you’re free to ask questions that I - or my staff - will try to answer.

Introduction

As DayZ is undergoing active development, and is steadying itself towards and beyond the 1.0 update on the 13th, so are we, as a community.

The server plays roughly in 2009, in the fourth quarter of the year. The backstory for us is loosely based on DayZ’s background but fitting for our setting.

The entire premise of our server is roleplaying in a free and welcoming environment where creativity preside above all else. However, roleplay quality is still constantly on our mind, and this is why our server is not publically available.

Our starting point will be where a detachment of the U.S. Marine Corps is the only military authority left standing in the Chernarus wasteland in a permanent base. Being the only one left in charge, the Military is the primary faction standing currently from a starting point, featuring both regular soldiers, the Military Police (in charge of upholding military and civilian law) and the medical and research division.

The Military faction right now, as might be feared by some, is not going to be the well-known “circlejerk” of players who only interact with each other, and nobody else outside of killing people. The Military has an active presence in Chernarus, and has interest in doing so.

As opposed to popular fiction, the Military’s goal is not to kill people or rob them of their fun.

The chief goal is to create a fun, relaxed roleplaying environment that everyone can have fun in.

Server information

  • Server is whitelisted, which permits only whitelisted people to join.
  • Server is hosted in France, but has good pings up until as far as Central America (+-100 ping), depending on client connection as well.
  • Experienced founding staff, with a combined amount of 15 years knowledge and experience in roleplay spanning three games (GarrysMod, ARMA3, DayZ).
  • Server uses modpacks to enhance visuals and experience through Steam Workshop.
  • Staff available 24/7 due to a mix of both European and American timezones on staff.

Faction Information

As far as the Military goes, it will be known under this name, but features three branches:

  • Assault/Combat Force
  • Military Police
  • Civilian Division (Food/Drink, Science and Medical)

Each of these three branches will have specific tasks and duties they can perform on a regular day in roleplay. I’ll be putting a short version down below.

  • Assault/Combat Force
    • Combat, Scavenging and Intelligence missions make up the primary tasks of these soldiers.
  • Military Police
    • Patrolling and Securing key locations, such as cities, checkpoints and generally interacting with players, and enforcing the laws set forth by the Military. First line in interaction with players.
  • Civilian Division
    • As far as Medical goes, there’s ranks of doctors and EMT’s, whereas Doctors will not usually leave the military base, unless on a specific mission, EMT’s will actively patrol the wasteland, ready to assist survivors medically, especially on the coast, as well as responding to emergency transmissions on the walkie talkies.

These outline what the faction does. So there is plenty of active and passive interaction with the Military, and learning about them and what they know.

However, what’s the fun in that if that’s all there is? That’s where survivors come in. Groups of friends, or even just random meetups could lead to the production of a camp claiming a particular area in Chernarus, who is either benevolent, or more bandit-inclined with steep prices to travel safely through that area, and make use of the loot spawned there.

It’s entirely up to the player. For larger camps, we offer a special program, which allows them to become an officially recognized faction as opposed to something just set up. Official factions/camps/groups enjoy a discord category and channels that only they can see and chat in (with the exception of admins), as well as official enrollment in our developing lore. Official groups are a part of the future of the server, and how it goes, and how the primary factions interact with each other.

You don’t have to be official just to have fun, of course, you’re free to construct a camp anywhere and run that how you see fit.

Community setting

The Community is an open-ended concept, where anyone can join, whether they intend to play or not, and chat with fellow DayZ players. The Discord offers channels that are both for leisure chat, as well as in character chat, which are considered radio transmissions to each other.

The setting is to have a friendly Community that is open to anyone, with a fast application process to join right into the fun.

Other information

The server is currently still in the starting phases, which means we’re not online yet, other than testing of new addons that we’d like to add.

We’re posting this announcement introducing us to offer you guys the chance to apply and join early, which grants the spawning of equipment in for them up until a week after this post. After that, each formed faction or solo survivor will have to scrounge and scavenge for their equipment.

Our server rules are listed here (These are a WIP, and may be edited during our initial startup phase to finetune what’s needed!): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1twUiUH9YXRyfcqGPwym2wTZkSURQxBsE4FoTHqbjiv4/edit?usp=sharing

Feel free to join us: https://discord.gg/JWjGVFj and ask us questions in the Discord as well, if you have any!
