Gh0stGam1ng 0 Posted November 21, 2018 Hi, I am looking at renting a server and wanting to add mods to the server but am looking for guidance to which type of server to go for (public/private) What I need to know is if you are able to add mods to a public server or if you can only add mods to a private server? Thanks for the help in advance. Ps sorry if I have put this in the wrong place.

Sy8282 21 Posted November 22, 2018 think it may of changed still modding tools were introduced but it was no mods or access to server files on private shards not so long ago, price wise you better off renting a dedicated machine though a host site rather than gamingdeluxe etc as self hosting is about a third of the price. or gportal had good deals on non shard servers but when i tried one the performance was terrible

I pay around $21 for my hosted DayZ server, so by your statement, I can get a dedicated server for $7?

How many slots on your server? We run 3 100slot servers on a dedicated rack for the equivalent of 40usd so yeah it's safe to say alot cheaper. You also have to factor in the value of not having to set up the server, do all of the windows updates, etc. With a hosting company, all you have to worry about is configuring the game server and that's worth the money. I left Vilayer after their HORRID support response time. I moved to Fragnet, who weren't much better and now I'm happy with GTX.

First I had problems with Vilayer, server was down 3 times in 4 days ,now last month it is fine. They have responsed me at 24 hours, usually faster.Maybe I quit running server this month so no need to change.Maybe if I need to start it again then I check other options. Now I am totally tired running server alone.
