November (DayZ) 1 Posted July 4, 2012 I have a problem with talking to others via microphone. I do got a fully working headset with a mic, but when I choose "Direct communication" and press Caps Lock no one hears me, I am not sure if I can hear other people either but I think I can.Anyone? stover1985@rogers.com 0 Posted July 4, 2012 Sounds like you're going to need to confirm or deny if they can hear you first before we get too much deeper into this. (Any friends playing this game can help you) Having said that, are we to assume your mic is working fine for other applications/games? (TS, etc) I don't think there's a mic volume control inside arma options.
Legacy (DayZ) 1091 Posted July 4, 2012 Pretty sure you need to use Push to Talk and not VON key.
stover1985@rogers.com 0 Posted July 4, 2012 Pretty sure you need to use Push to Talk and not VON key.Caps was the default key for PTT. It worked that way for me, but since I hated having to toggle off caps when I was going to type somehting I switched it. Regardless of they key you press, if it says "Direct Channel" and or shows that little Mic icon, you're transmitting.

chippe 0 Posted July 4, 2012 Yeah my friend couldn't hear me last night either, I think its dependant on the server? Although three people I have met have not heard me
stover1985@rogers.com 0 Posted July 4, 2012 Then I would check the volume settings in dayz. Also, as I've had this happen before to me, check your mic volume in the sound settings of windows and arma2. Other than that, I'm at a loss. Should be working just fine, it's clearly not a hardware issue.
Junker (DayZ) 0 Posted July 4, 2012 Only help I can offer is that if the server has side chat, then the direct chat doesn't work. I have tested this with friends. So look for servers without side chat. If that doesn't work then I don't know what to tell you.
