Can't get chat to work

Im mornin party but my friend cant hear me but I hear him.plz help

Tricky to help when there isnt much detail.

I know if you join a server whilst already in a party and in party chat then sometimes game chat wont work.

You have to be in game chat before joining a server; either in a  party but switched to game chat or not in a party at all.
