Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the DayZ mod but have been playing for about 3-4 weeks now. I'm not looking to start a flame war or anything of the sort, but I would really like to understand the logic behind some of the changes being made in 1.7.2 I've been reading about across the internet(They may not be true, but I'm going to assume they are for the sake of this post.)

From what I've been reading Rocket is planning on having zombies running inside buildings, I understand they have no real legitimate reason to walk inside buildings and such.. But the current situation with the buggy nature of zombies coming through walls and such seems this would merely create a whole new set of problems with the game(This is of course my opinion, I would gladly gear the logic to support this change but I cannot comprehend it at the moment.)

Fucking bear traps. I don't really know what to say about this when medical supplies are camped on just about every server with over 20-25 people. Since I'm going to assume they're probably going to do something along the lines of breaking your leg as well as make you bleed at the same time, perhaps even forcing you to be stuck in place until you can "un-arm" the trap. This is going to create a very, very dangerous experience in the areas where there is good loot. I am not a carebear, I love a hard game that makes me play very cautiously.. I just think a trap that would do something like what i mentioned above is out of line and un-needed.. I would much rather see new items in the game like kevlar/armor piercing rounds to counter it. A larger reward for working in a group as surviors/bandits. Perhaps some kind of HQ for bandits/survivors as well where firing is disabled inside the building and would allow players to make it some kind of a trading hub.. This is just my rambling but if anyone can justify the logic of these changes I would gladly keep an open mind about them.

I haven't really got anything constructive to add. I just agree with what you've said. I actually made your first point to my friend earlier. Zombies running inside is fine ONCE they're less buggy. I think it will be a bit too much right now. And yeah...bear traps. Going to be interesting with the duping bugs about.

Not liking the sound of bear traps.

Its bad enough with barbed wire everywhere at the moment.

You're going to need to carry 10 morphine around with you once somebody spawns a box of beartraps.

Mmmmmhhh... bear traps... Imagine the server-abusing admins setting thousands of them around the server.

Seriously, I think they are going to be great. When going in a house you can set a bear trap at the door so you have more time to loot as the zombies get stuck on it.

Same thing is gonna happen with bear traps as to what is happening with barb wire. It will rarely be used to give yourself advantage (making a trap, barricade etc) and most of the time it's just going to be used to be a dick and put it in every building with loot in cherno/electro.

There's also going to be a huge difference in how bear traps affects the game with and without 3rd person view enabled (i.e. huge disparity in feedback).

If you play cautiously your most likely gonna see the bear trap, you know how big one is? They will break your leg and possibly they might make you bleed but then again Rocket can make it where morphine spawns more. I think we should give this patch a chance first then already start ranting on about it. (No Offense) There possibly adding Motion Capture due to Bohemia really loving this mod. Motion capture will definately fix the zombies no doubt about it. You should be more concernced about how to lose zombies if they can run through buildings.

Anyways give the patch a chance, honestly. IT sounds very interesting and possibly fun if you can disarm it without a toolbox that would be fantastic.

It shall be made ultra rare. And barb wire shall be made possible to overcome EVERYWHERE.

Except there are like 3 ways to dupe items atm from what I've been hearing. Someone can find just 1 and spam it into oblivion.

I've always wondered about the whole morphine-heals-broken-bones thing. I think it would be more interesting to be able to brace the leg with some wooden sticks that you could get from the forest. Morphine could be used for something else.

Except there are like 3 ways to dupe items atm from what I've been hearing. Someone can find just 1 and spam it into oblivion.

Some (if not all) of the current methods used for duping are going to be removed with 1.7.2 Also stuff like tank traps' date=' sandbags, barbed wire and probably bear traps will be removed, i.e decay. Same with tents that are unused.

Anyway I'm all for bear traps or any device that makes you more cautious when looting. Currently I see and read about so many players that just run into and out of a building, ignoring the infected and anything else, dashing from one loot spot to the other. Well - now a decently placed bear trap will teach them a little lesson :D

I wasn't even aware of the duping concern, but I think in order for the bear traps to be truly *good* for the game he may want to consider increasing the spawn rates on morphine, or like someone mentioned earlier, create some kind of splint/brace from wood in the environment and perhaps some duct tape... that would be pretty sweet imo.

Firing your gun should never be disabled unless you have the safety on. That is a dumb suggestion.

You do realize, admins don't have any more ingame powers than you do?

The only things they can do is kick/ban players and restart the server.

This game truly needs more things to spamm and more things to break our legs on.

Ohh, and please install ED209's in every hospital, the campers shouldn't have to do all the work.

I have no problems with bear traps, I actually think it's a great idea. But with so much duping going on, we'll see them everywhere in big towns blocking all the entrances.

Bear traps are just more tools to give to those players that like to exploit and piss everyone else off!

I have no reason to place a bear trap at a doorway because im not server hopping!

As bear traps also will trap infected I can see uses for other players as well. Also discourage people of just blindly running up to the nearest hunting stand to grab a gun and "frag bean coast noobs", when spawning in Kamenka or Kamyshovo.

Zombies moving quickly inside buildings might cut down on loot campers. Maybe. Right now, they can sit around all day shooting anyone that comes by and taking the zombies out at their leisure. Then again, the bear traps would sort of make it even easier to loot camp.

Bear traps are simply idiotic.

they add no depth to gameplay whatsoever, and just serve as a griefing tool, i.e, no-skill, no-consequence gameplay ruining. Its not even like the people griefing will be able to see their "work" and have any interaction initiated. IN 99% of the cases they'll not even be on the server.

It makes about as much sense as introducing a tool which floods the ip of a random player.

Pointless, its quicker to shoot a zombie in the head than to carry and setup a bear trap to kill 1 zombie!

So as i said... just another tool for players to piss off other players with.

Bear traps sound cool but in the REAL WORLD they will be nothing more then another griefing tool and duped like crazy.
