Quick clarification on chemlight visibility

Recommended Posts

A quick Google search turned up no results, so I will just ask this here real quick. The Dayz wiki says zombies may be attracted to close, thrown chemlights. I just want to know if they are attracted to held chemlights, if any of you have experience with this situation.

And you are lit up like a christman tree, so PvP is unavoidable

Yes, I am aware how much of my question the wiki answers, and I am aware of the light levels of the three different colors. I am also aware how real life should work, I just need firsthand experience on whether or not holding a chemlight attracts zombies ingame.

The chemlights have a radius as far as I can tell. I can't say that my chemlight specifically was a cause of agro, but it seems like it was harder to stay concealed. Keeping the infected outside the range of the chemlight is a fairly good practice. Keep your volume up and listen for them growls.

If your comfortable enough to venture carrying a chemlight at night where you are at, then having some flares to toss for infected distractions can come in handy to add extra light and keep them away from where you want to go.

Thanks DeadWalking99, that was a good response. I'll keep this in mind.

Just want to say good on you for playing at night man. I haven't used chems in a LONG time, so I couldn't really tell you anything to do with radius etc, but still, good on you for giving this a go at night.
