when you spawn or login you need to watch the bottom right hand corner of the screen for your approximate location.

You will not have a map unless you find one.

Pro tip: There are lots of maps of Chernarus you can print out or alt-tab to on the interwebz

When you spawn, there's text on your right bottom corner. The second line in the text is where you are. Find a browser map and you can quickly find out where you are.
